RI PRESIDENT AND WIFE TO VISIT DISTRICT 7530 IN MARCH

July 15, 2018 – Rotary Club of  Buckhannon has announced that Rotary International President Barry Rassin, and his lovely wife Esther, from Nassau, Bahamas, will be visiting the area to help celebrate their club’s 100th Birthday.

He’ll also be recognizing the 100th birthday of fellow clubs in the area including Weston, Elkins, Fairmont, Moundsville and Parkersburg. The Rassins will be visiting area projects and bestowing some Rotary Foundation awards.

This is truly an honor for area clubs (and District) as this is the first time a current Rotary International President has visited this area.

The Rassins will be here the last weekend of March 2019, and more information will be made available as plans are finalized.

All Rotarians are encouraged to put that weekend on your calendar for a rare opportunity to meet RI President Barry Rassin!

The Rotary Club of Buckhannon welcomed new member, Sharla Smith, director of the Upshur County Salvation Army, to the club on Tuesday, November 14. Rotarian Jody Light sponsored the new member.
Smith then spoke to the group on the many opportunities available to partner with the Salvation Army to help needy children and families have a better holiday season.
“The holiday months are our busiest time of the year,” she told the group, “and we are always in need of volunteer help.”
The traditional bell ringing kicks off on November 20 at Dollar Tree and Kroger, and November 24 at Wal-Mart. Smith noted that volunteers are always needed.
The annual Angel Christmas Tree Assistance program includes tree locations at Wal-Mart, Stockhart Youth Center and Puttin’ on the Ritz. She said 225 children are part of the Angel Tree program, so it’s imperative that volunteers step up to the plate to help these children have a good holiday. Deadline to make adoptions is December 7, and distribution begins December 11.
