Fundraiser for Tri-State United Fields in Weirton

The Rotary Club of Weirton Heights has a big goal in mind for its upcoming fundraising event, but organizers need your help to make it happen.

The Tri-State United Fields in Weirton are home to the Madonna soccer team and travel teams as they pass through, but the rotary is looking to make the area something for everyone to enjoy.

“We’re working on a project not just for beautification of the fields, but we want to turn this into a true facility we can hold events,” former Rotary President Daniel Spickard said.

The plans include a dog park, a mile-long walking track, and a playground.

“What we want to do is make this the gem of Weirton,” Spickard said. “When people first come in and see because we are right next to Weirton Medical Center, we want people to see how we’re growing and expanding.”

“There’s a lot more we wanted to do here within the soccer community, as well as extending out to the rest of the community in Weirton,” said Bob Kolanko, president of Tri-State United. “We always had this idea, this dream of what we wanted it to be, and drawings for this complex went back 20-plus years ago.”
