CLUB ANNOUNCES NEW WEB SITE and MEETING PLACE

April 4, 2019 – The Rotary Club of Kingwood recently completed the development of a new web site that offers information about the club and Rotary. Feel free to visit: https://rotaryclubofkingwood.org

The club has also chosen a new meeting place: Rosemary’s Thyme Mexican Restaurant at the Preston County Country Club, 183 Club House Dr, Kingwood, WV 26537 on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays.

1st Tuesdays are traditional meetings with program, the 3rd Tuesday is dedicated to a specific service project and 5th Tuesday… something fun. Every 5th Tuesday will be a different social activity or event.

 

 


 

PRESIDENT-ELECT TARRELL RIES ATTENDS PETS

March 15-16, 2019 – Incoming Kingwood Rotary President Tarrell Ries receives congratulations from District 7545 DGE Shari Messenger for completing PETS training in Flatwoods, WV.

The Rotary District 7545 PETS Graduation Ceremony was held Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Flatwoods, West Virginia. District Governor-Elect, Shari Messinger stands behind the graduates. ANNUAL GOLF BASH FUNDRAISER A SUCCESS

 

 

 

 

 

February 24, 2019 – Every February the Rotary Club of Kingwood holds its main fundraiser, the Golf Bash at the Kingwood Community Building. Each member of the club sells tickets which include a dinner, complimentary beer and wine and a chance to win an array of golf equipment for $25.00. Ticket holders must be present to win.

Over 200 Rotarians and residents attended this year’s event.

“Profits from the Golf Bash funds two $1,000 scholarships to Preston County high school seniors in May,” explained Ray Thompson, club treasurer and Golf Bash organizer. Funds are also used for other local Rotarian projects.

The Bash was held on Saturday, February 23, the 114th Birthday of Rotary International.

 

 

 

 

 


 

CLUB GIVES DICTIONARIES TO PRESTON COUNTY THIRD GRADE STUDENTS

10.23.18 –The Rotary Club of Kingwood distributed 350 dictionaries to third graders around Preston County on Tuesday, October 23.

The club has conducted the annual distribution for more than 10 years.

Rotary member JoAnn Peterson and a Kingwood Elementary student look at a dictionary together.

 

 


 

PRESTON COUNTY BUCKWHEAT FESTIVAL PARADE

Rotary float, 2018 Buckwheat Festival Parade.

9.28.18 –The Rotary Club of Kingwood prepared a School Day Parade float for the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. The parade ran through downtown on Friday, Sept. 28.

The Friday float featured folks from Food for Preston.  Saturday is Farmers Day and the Rotarians road the float and planned a big surprise for festival goers.  Hopefully this added to the festive mood and residents noticed that Rotary is not just about Service, but also about FUN!

 

 


 

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED

Grace Favro receives Rotary Scholarship.

7.20.2018 – Preston High School graduate Grace Favro receives the John Negley Scholarship for $1,000 from Rotary Club member Mel Snyder. The award was given by the Rotary Club of Kingwood at a picnic held June 19 in Brown’s Park. Favro will study in the nursing program at Fairmont State University.
